Yet another gigantic character, and a huge scope for performance as Paani Bai. How has the journey been with Durga?
I feel I live the character when I am on set. Focus and dedication are the words that come to my mind when playing any character. I credit my hard work and the team who gave me this opportunity. The journey playing Paani Bai has been tremendous and I feel the character unfolds more with every scene. Leena Didi has been the soul of this character, and I have given energy and life to it.
If you are asked to name 3 to 4 of your game-changer roles, what will they be?
A game-changer role for me came first with Krishnaben Khakhrawala. Later came Krishndasi and now Paani Bai in Durga.
How is it to gel with Pranali Rathod?
My tuning with Pranali Rathod has been pretty good like other heroines. She does put in her input and very well understands the emotions that Durga as a character goes through.
Durga as a show has been on the rise with respect to ratings. The drama too has intensified. What is your take on the growth the show has seen?
The show Durga has been on a gradual rise. I have loved Leena Didi’s take on every character. It is not easy for her to etch it so effortlessly and beautifully. She has given value to every character. I have never really looked at the TRP ratings of any show. I feel consistency is the key to success. If you have characters that are very well written and executed, they can become cult and popular.
What inspires you time and again to outplay yourself as a performer?
My inspiration has been my passion for acting. It comes easily to me with the progression of every scene. I have enjoyed working with all the co-actors of Durga. They have unique dynamics to their characters and have a connection with Paani Bai. If you ask me, my favourite character in the show is Paani Bai. She is a mature wounded woman.
What can viewers look forward to now?
Viewers will see drama happening in every episode of Durga which will bring new twists.
