Mayuri Deshmukh of Imlie fame is doing well for herself at work!! An ardent devotee of Ganpati Bappa, Mayuri has some amazing memories of Ganesh Chaturthi and she shares it with us.
Says Mayuri, “My favourite moment during Ganesh Chaturthi as kids are the functions and programs that used to happen in the colony that I was living in. I used to participate in various competitions held for children like fancy dress, dance, treasure hunt, food and fair etc.”
On the ritual at home during the festival, Mayuri avers, “We have celebrated Ganpati in our house since the last 4 years. We like to do all of the decorations by ourselves. This year, my mom herself made the Murthi. We like cooking all the meals and prasad at home rather than purchasing it. Also, the decor is not outsourced, it is made from the things that we can create. So we are very much involved in all sorts of preparations during Ganesh Chaturthi.”
On the plans for this year, Mayuri quips, “I really hoped that we could call a lot of people. But unfortunately, we have not. We have not kept it open for friends and well-wishers. Hope next year, preparations will be better, and we can invite a lot of people at home.”
In her prayers for the festive season, she states, “My prayers for Ganesh Chaturthi this year are well-being and peace for all. Great health and a healthy environment need to be around all this year.”
“I like the Modaks that my mother makes. I love both the kinds of Modaks that are made; I just feast on them.”
