Neel Motwani, who is playing the lead in &TV show Waaris, has had a slow but definite rise in his acting career. Over the years, this Nagpur lad has done several shows such as Kumkum Bhagya, Beintehaa, Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi, among others. His last project was Bahu Humari Rajnikanth, where he played a parallel lead.
Neel here remembers his very first shooting assignment seven years back with Waaris co- star Jasveer Kaur.
“It was an episodic where the latter played the lead cop. I was very excited as the casting guy told me that I would be playing an important role. Lo and behold, I landed up on the set and was told to lie down as a dead body, I did so. After the scene wrapped up, I asked what next? They simply said go home, your job is done. That one line came as a bolt from the blue, how could I just play corpse? I angrily called up the casting guy and gave him a piece of my mind saying you had promised a pivotal role, he fired back saying it is, the whole story does revolves around how your character died .”
He continues, “I was really shaken and was about to make a scene but Jassi stepped in and counselled to keep quiet saying this is how the industry operates and one needs to keep patience. So don’t burn your bridges.”
Neel says it’s an experience which has stayed with him for years together now.
“The worst part was calls from angry extended family members who kept telling me that we did not send you to become a dead body,” he laughs off and ends on a high note.
