Ami Trivedi is very happy to be back on the small screen, with yet another comic avatar, in SAB TV show, Saat Phero Ki Hera Pherie (Playtime Creations).
Says Ami, “I love the husband-wife nok jhok (co-star Amit Mistry, as Parimal), and so do our audiences. We have a small caste of five major artists- Swati Shah, Kavin Dave, and last but not the least, Shekhar Suman. So we all have lots to do. We all have grown up, watching Shekharji do his magic, so it feels proud to be able to share screen space with him.”
Ami, who began as a child artist with Hamrahi and Zee Horror show, got name and fame with Kituu Sab Janti Hai as main lead (2005). She then went on to do other shows such as Jaane Kya Baat Hui, Papad Pol, Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo, etc.
Ami has no qualms in admitting that she is typecast as a comic bahu. “It is good, for I love the genre. It is real fun to play the dominative, quarrelsome wife, who can cook for nuts, in the above show. I am so unlike her in real life.”
Looking ahead, she is game for trying out web series, “As they give you freedom to come out of the TV mould. I might be ready for slightly glamorous stuff, as it might help me break the comic bahu image. Having said that, I don’t mean dare-bare, for I am now past that age, and no one sees in me that avatar anyways.”
Ask her about the breaks she keeps taking (her last show, Tedi Medi Family wrapped up in 2015), and she says, “They are needed, as I have responsibility towards family, but yes, I will admit that I do miss the arc lights. But it is fine, as I work for myself and don’t have to run the kitchen. I feel blessed to have lasted so long in a very ruthless industry. Guess it boils down to how you conduct yourself and how much the audience loves you.”
Way to go, Ami!!
