I have not tried hard to make friends in the industry; I would rather be with my family: Deblina Chatterjee

Deblina Chatterjee who plays the role of Gayu in Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai gets into a conversation with IWMBuzz.com.

Deblina Chatterjee, who was missing from popular STAR Plus show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, where she played the character of Gayu, will soon be back in action. “I have just started shooting and have no clue about what and why of the new track.”

Deblina accepts that being part of an iconic show does change the ball game. Looking ahead, she would be game for more juicy projects. “After trying my hands at mytho (three characters in Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman) and drama, I would next like to test my comic timing,” says Deblina, who has done four or five shows (Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein, Sasural Simar Ka) in her six-year-long career.

Deblina, who has also acted in a Hindi film, is waiting for its release. “I will only share more details once the release window is locked. The project has been delayed for a while due to certain reasons.”

She has also acted in an award-winning Bangla film.

Apart from films, she is game for juicy web projects as well. Here, unlike other girls, Deblina is smart enough not to foreclose a possible bold avatar, but yes, she adds a caveat of not going too bold. One more thing that separates this Kolkata gal from others in the TV crowd is that she does not plaster herself all over social media. “I have come here to work, and honestly, I don’t subscribe to the theory of courting false controversies just to get noticed, as such things eventually backfire on you only.”

When asked about having industry friends, she says, “While I gel with all my co-stars, I am not really pally with anybody from the fraternity. I don’t think I have tried too hard for the same; I’d rather be with my family.”

Can two industry gals be BFFs? “Why not, if both have similar mind-sets; difference of opinion can happen everywhere. Having said this, jealousy and insecurity do seem to creep in among actors. Wouldn’t it be nice if one could also celebrate the success of friends?”

In closing, we ask her about any plans to settle down. “Right now, I am only concentrating on work.” She is among the very few gals about whom no link-up story has ever occurred. “If I meet someone right, I will be the first to shout it out from the rooftops.”

Wish you all the best, Deblina!
