Ssudeep Sahir is very excited about playing Krishna in &TV show, Paramavatar Shri Krishna (Peninsula Pictures) post the leap.

“Paramavatar Shri Krishna has been on air for a while, dealing with the childhood leelas of Lord Krishna. Now, with that phase over, we have just moved to older Krishna, who while telling Arjun (Ankit Bathla is playing the role in the show) that he controls everything, narrates the events leading up to the Mahabharata war.”

“This is my first tryst with the mytho space, having only done social-themed shows ever since I debuted with Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr, back in 2003.”

“It is not easy as you need to learn hard core Sanskrit shlokas. I had to sit down with a pandit to get the correct pronunciations.”

“Also, you need to maintain the warrior image. The toughest thing out here is that you need to follow the text to the T. You can’t change things as we do with family dramas. If you slip once, you have to restart the entire dialogue. Last but not the least, you can’t hurry the shoot process, given that you need to have a very calm spiritual approach.”

“In a way you can say that my 16 years of work till now has been prep for this role.” His other well-known shows have been Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki and Dream Girl — Ek Ladki Deewani Si.

“This new God role seems to have been written for me, for it kept coming back to me. I was first approached for the same even before my last show, Koi Apna Sa, but then things did not materialize. And this time, producers Alind Shrivastav and Nisar Parvez were adamant that I do the role. I was unsure, but my better half egged me on.”

Ssudeep claims that when he adorns the costumes, he gets an invisible energy that drives him to do stuff he can’t perform as himself. “I then just follow my body and mind.”

“I am also trying to imbibe the Geeta gyaan of just doing your Karma without bothering about results, as that is really how life eventually unravels.”

Ssudeep is lucky in the sense that unlike most other mytho sets that are erected away from Mumbai, “Our set is in Naigaon. So although it takes two hours going up and down, yet the comfort of coming back home to family every night is a big thing.”

In closing, when asked about working with &TV, which is not doing very well on the ratings front, he says, “I have worked with Zee for several projects (Jabb Love Hua, Santaan, etc). And now I hope our new project does well with its sister channel.”
