In a free-wheeling chat with Mohsin amidst his busy schedule, IWMBuzz.com got an opportunity to talk to him regarding the recent tracks that have been appreciated, his overall journey with the show and much more…
I am happy that I have been part of this amazing journey. This is one thing that I will cherish all my life. As the journey goes on, we as actors are determined to put in our best and take the show further
Says Mohsin, “As an actor and as a person, I am totally overwhelmed with what has come my way with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. When I started this journey, I never thought that I will grow this much as an actor and gain so much of love from my team and from viewers and fans. I get really emotional that I have moved past so many pleasant memories in this Yeh Rishta journey. The beginning in Hrishikesh, the romance in Switzerland, the huge Bikaner wedding and the rollercoaster happy and emotional moments that the show and my role has seen has been amazing. To talk about a few, Shubham’s death and its repercussions, Kartik slowly accepting his father and mother have been tracks that have given varied layers to perform in my character.”
Talking about the present track in the show, Mohsin states, “Aah, Kartik has gone through hell from the point he decided to exchange the kids. Even though he reached a point where he mustered up courage and confessed his mistake, it was a bit too late. By then, the accident had taken place and Naira had lost her memory. Now, he is seen around Naira with the completely new identity, that of Siddharth. His motive now is to be around Naira, and keep her safe at all times. At the same time, he fears to rekindle her past, as if she gets back her memory, he will again be pushed to a corner for the guilt of whatever he has done.”
Mohsin feels that it is a commendable achievement that Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has had an amazing 10 years long journey. “I am happy that I have been part of this amazing journey. This is one thing that I will cherish all my life. As the journey goes on, we as actors are determined to put in our best and take the show further. On a large perspective, it is a great achievement for the writing team, creative team and the production team to have moved with time, and taken the tracks and story ahead. It is sheer hard work of all in the team that has given such results.”
Depending on the mood of my character, I change my preparations. If Kartik is going through emotional moments, I tend to watch lot of depressing movies to keep myself in that mood
On a personal note, Mohsin claims that he has learnt a lot and is still learning the nuances of acting with every passing day. “Depending on the mood of my character, I change my preparations. As actors, we do our preparation to put in our best. But complete credit goes to our Director Romesh Kalra for guiding us throughout. He knows how to bring the best out of us. Whenever there is a changeover in character coming, he prepares me prior to it, so that I am ready for the next challenge. He instils confidence and motivates me to better myself.”
Mohsin confides that he is one of the biggest fans of ‘Kaira’ (Kartik and Naira). “In fact, it is not only me. Shivangi is also crazy about Kaira. We both have watched every episode of Kaira nearly 2 to 3 times. We actually remember everything from the sequences of Kaira. We are now close to 900 episodes and nearly 3 years of being in the show. But trust us when we say that we have watched our episodes so many times. Even today, we gear up to watch the beginning to our love story. It helps us identify the graph the characters have had. It will not be right if I say that we both have created the magic of Kaira. We have just been at the right place at the right time.”

Ask Mohsin what can viewers expect in the story line to come and he is quick to say, “The story ahead will get all the more interesting. There will be a new love story of Kartik and Naira that will be seen. This will help create new memories of Kaira. And viewers will be thrilled to see this all over again. And if you ask me, I will say that we need to go on and on, and entertain viewers in the same way. I want to work really hard and make people around me happier.”
