Newbie actor Sargun Kaur feels lucky to have made her debut with the Star Bharat show, Kaal Bhairav Rahasya, “Which is not your regular saas bahu staple.”

“Our different story, about faith vs reason, is appealing to people of my generation as well. I have read very good reviews, so feel nice.”

Coming to her character, she says, “Gauri is a very naïve and talkative gal. She is completely devoted to God and will do what it takes to stick to her beliefs, even if it goes against her village. She is fun-loving and adored by all.”

“My fans are loving the way Gauri talks and I’m happy to note that that they are getting the positive image I am trying to put out as an actor. It is important that the audience understands your nuances as well.”

Dwelling on the plot, she says, “My character leads Rahul (Rahul Sharma) in finding out the truth about his brother’s death in a positive way (he died in a Shiv temple where no one is supposed to enter post-sunset), while Namrata (Chhavi Pandey) treads the more negative path. We girls are both getting our due screen space.”

Sargun, who hails from Delhi, was a model before. “Then I started to dabble in theater, back in the national capital. While doing theater, I began to like the craft. Also, the fact that acting has much scope, made me pursue it further. Hence, I grabbed Kaal Bhairav with both hands.”

So what are herinitialviews about the TV industry?“As an outsider, I would think that acting is a breeze. Rather, it entails lots of effort. The glamour and glitz is also not easy to deal with. But on the positive side, you learn a lot about the acting craft, which holds us in good stead down the road.”

Looking ahead, this girl would want to try her hands at the negative genre, “For it offers a lot of variations. I also want to try different characters in the positive vein as well.” She would be open for web series as well. “But yes, I would not be comfortable with bold characters.”

When asked about the ratings of her show, she says, “We are consistently raking in over 1 TVR, which is good enough for the 7pm slot. Not many folks are back home by then. Things could have been even better if the show had been more effectively promoted.”
