Patiala Babes not going anywhere: Aniruddh Dave

Talented actor Aniruddh Dave is feeling blessed at having got the role of Hanuman Singh in Sony TV show, Patiala Babes. “Having been around for years (starting with Raajkumar Aaryyan, NDTV Imagine), I have always been yearning to do characters that have meat and theatrical outlook. It is very difficult to get classy roles in our TV environment.”

“Hence, when this earthy cop character came my way, I grabbed it with both hands. Right now, we are playing with the romantic angle between Hanuman Singh and Babita (Paridhi Sharma). The fact that it is getting good media traction means we are on the right path.”

Here Aniruddh denies the recent media buzz that suggested that his show might be on its way out. “Maybe people mistook us for Ladies Special, which is indeed ending. But yes, our time slot has been changed from 9 to 8.30 to make way for KBC.”His other TV outings have included Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Phulwa, etc.

Aniruddh had taken a TV sabbatical after Yaro Ka Tashan, during which he tried films and web before returning to TV with the above Sony show.

“I am glad for the detour, which allowed me to play around with other mediums as well. I am an artist who is looking for good work, period, be it on TV, digital or cinema. I would also love to dabble in stage again, but don’t have time for rehearsals.”

After his debut Haryanvi film, Chhoriyan Chhoron Se Kam Nahi Hoti, he is now looking forward to the release of his next Hindi feature, Pranam, which stars Rajeev Khandelwal and Sameksha. “I play a strong negative role whose action runs alongside Rajeev’sgangster character.” His other Hindi films have included Tere Sang and Shorgul.

Aniruddh has had a long working equation with Vikram Bhatt Productions, both in films and web.

“I played a turncoat RAW agent in Zindabad along with Sanaya Irani. Then I had a positive character in Untouchables along with Sreejita De and Vikram himself, who played a crazy lawyer.“I am happy to have been associated with well-written meaty web products and not with those that only peddle s*x and abuse.”

“Last but not the least, my film Badnaam, again with Vikram, starring Priyal Gor and Mohit Sehgal, which was shot in England, will release by year-end.”

Any more web projects? “I will start shooting for another big project by November. If you are doing a daily, it does get tough to spare time for other projects. But I am sure I will adjust the dates.”
