Indian Idol 11 the singing reality show on Sony TV will present its Finale this weekend and for Ankona Mukherjee, this will be a big opportunity to strike ‘gold’.
Ankona who entered the show as one of the Wild Card entrants is blessed with a melodious voice, and her singing is being compared to the likes of the legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale.
She’s the youngest in the contestant lot, but her maturity and intelligence are beyond par.
In a heart-to-heart talk with IWMBuzz.com, Ankona Mukherjee one of the five finalists of Indian Idol 11 talks about her chances at winning the title and on her preparation to do the same.
Says Ankona on the wild card opportunity got, “It was my childhood dream to be seen on Indian Idol. But I never thought that I will make an appearance through the wild card. When I could not make it at the start, I had told myself that I will try for it the next year. But when I got in through wild card, I was extremely thrilled. It was my dream come true moment.”
On her voice being compared to legendary singers, Ankona has this to say, “Everyone keeps telling me this. But whenever they say, I listen to them and take this as blessings coming to me from the legendary singers.”
Ankona is the most loved by all contestants on the show. “I am the youngest and I always get priority. All of them care for me and help me always. This is new to me as I am the only kid in my house. I have never been the eldest or the youngest. So being the youngest here, I get all the love and praise from one and all.”
On her preparations for the final of Indian Idol, Ankona states, “I am working really hard for the finals. The best part is that I am learning to dance too. Yes, this will be new from my side. So I am aiming for a total package as a performance.”
“As I said, I am really scared right now for my dance part. When I came in initially, I was really scared to sing in front of all the renowned people. However, I have gained confidence as a singer now. But with me deciding to dance, I am very apprehensive of it. I really want my song and dance to turn out well.”
Ask her about her best Indian Idol moment and Ankona exclaims, “The best moment was my first performance after getting selected in the wild card round. This was a huge moment for me, as my dream was coming true.”
On her expectations, Ankona avers, “All are really good performers and are practising hard to win the title. I am also putting my best foot forward and working really hard. Let the best one win.”
