Rahil Azam, the power-packed performer made viewers fall in love with his antagonistic avatar of Jayant Dhanrajgir (JD) in the Colors show, Tu Aashiqui produced by Guroudev Bhalla.
His unpredictable, negative persona gave goosebumps to viewers whenever he was on screen!! This was the first time the viewers loved to see the villain more than the hero and female audience went ga ga over the way he said “babu”. However, the show seemed to lose its punch the moment Rahil stepped out.
Now that Tu Aashiqui is all set to close down, we at IWMBuzz.com did give it a thought to ask Rahil about the impact that his absence made in the show’s ratings.
Says Rahil, it is only the concept that works. The script is always the hero. In fat the grandeur of the show too does not matter; the biggest blockbusters in TV have been shot within four walls, in very ordinary locales. I think people should get out of this mindset that an actor makes or breaks a show. And the next most important thing is the reach of the concept, for which a balanced promotion and supporting time slot is needed. Rest is destiny.”
Rahil has always played roles so very convincingly that his characters are etched in viewers’ minds till the time he gets back with another equally strong role.
Ask him about his plan about picking up his next character, and he says, “There have been a lot of offers pouring in from the moment people realized that JD is out of the show. It took them a little while to digest that he is not there. They were in a dilemma whether he will come back or not. Now that the show is going to end, offers have started to come in. Now my main focus is to do an out and out positive role so that I get to break the image of JD. I have always managed to do that whenever I have struck a chord with viewers for a particular role, and later gotten back with my next. So hopefully I will wait for the right role to come to me.”
About Tu Aashiqui which has had a successful run of a year, managing to give good ratings at the 7 PM slot, Rahil avers, “We all are proud that Tu Aashiqui did really well at the 7 PM slot. One year run is an achievement considering that there are shows that go off air in only few months.”
Well, we surely know Rahil will be back with yet another versatile role, to entertain his fan base!!
