How has your journey been in the mytho role of Lord Ram? What have been your takeaways?
The journey has been amazing so far and has been overwhelming. As I have always said, I feel lucky that I got the opportunity to play Shri Ram. There are a lot of takeaways – the experience I got to live the life of Shri Ram, and being part of this Ramayan epic is a big takeaway. I learned how to become a better human being. There cannot be a bigger example of this than Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. Also, another takeaway has been the happiness and sweet memories of 2024, when I played Shri Ram.
Has playing a Godly character transformed you in any way? Explain.
Any character you play can transform you. But when it comes to Shri Ram, this is a character which brings about a huge transformation in the actor playing it. I have seen a change in myself – whenever I get into a tricky situation, I ask myself how Shri Ram will handle this situation. This is a question I have always asked myself. After playing Shri Ram, I have nurtured the curiosity to deeply explore other rich cultural epics of our country, not only Ramayan.
How is it to be a part of Shrimad Ramayan on the whole?
The experience has been great. I have earlier worked with Swastik Productions. So the environment-friendly atmosphere has been like family. The vision of Siddharth Sir has been huge and I am thankful for this opportunity. This has to be a turning point in my career and a big learning curve. Not just as an actor, I learnt a lot technically too.
Does popularity in a mytho role create a doubt that you will be typecast for only such genres of work? What do you think about this?
I don’t believe in this problem of being typecast. Earlier, there used to be this fear. But nowadays, with a lot of content made available, one cannot get typecast. I am happy that I have been sincere in playing Shri Ram. I will look forward to doing other roles too with the same conviction and responsibility.
How have you grown as an actor over the years?
I have had a great growth as an actor. It has been nearly 13 years for me in this industry. When I entered the industry, I was a bad actor, and I was not at all mature. Like every individual, I also got into the phase of self-reflection and worked on myself. I researched a lot to play the roles I got. All of this has made me a better actor. As an actor, we need to always look forward to growth in our careers.
How is it to work with the cast of the show?
As I said, we have been a family. We had a great tuning with all in the cast. I had a great bond with Prachi, my four brothers, Nikitin and Aaravji. All had their work ethics and there was no pressure felt at work.
Is there any dream role for you?
I want to play a detective, on the lines of Byomkesh Bakshi, Feluda, Sherlock Holmes etc.
