Young and talented Savi Thakur, who entertained audiences in projects like Namah and Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega, is currently entertaining the masses as Amar Vidrohi in Sony SAB’s show Maddam Sir. The actor spoke exclusively to IWMBuzz.com about his shooting experience, the challenges of essaying the role of a cop, and more. Read on:
How has been your experience shooting so far for the show?
It has been a fantastic experience shooting for the show so far. At the start, workshops were held to convey how the character is and how it will mold in the story with other characters. All these weeks I have seen the character grow and come to life with the storyline. I am glad that the practice and hard work to make Amar stand out have worked. I am happy that our audience liked my performance in the show.
What has been the biggest lesson that you learnt while playing the role of a cop?
I feel I have started to become more aware of my surroundings, attentive to what’s happening around and how I can be prepared for whatever comes my way. When I say prepared, I mean that I have learnt and am still learning the mannerism that cops follow and how I can use them in time of need.
How difficult is it to play such a challenging character of a cop on screen?
Playing the role of a cop on screen is not an easy task. It does have its own challenges. For the character of Amar Vidrohi, the producer took me through how the character will be in the storyline and traits which I had to adapt. With time and practice, I was able to adapt those traits, so as to make it more realistic and maintain the continuity of the character on screen. Every day is a new challenge, but it is equally exciting.
Any male cop you look up to for any inspiration?
I have actually never had an encounter with a leading male cop, but I wish to meet one of our real-life heroes soon.
If you become a cop in real life what is the one crime that you like to stop immediately or will take action against?
Just like my character in the show, I hold a lot of respect for women in real life too. In reality, I would want to take action against rape culture. We are aware of the many issues that are occurring, but rape cases are something that we keep hearing about with each passing hour. As initial steps against rape culture, I would like to make people aware of the root causes of this culture that is dominance, violence, and the real meaning of consent. We can only make a difference when our basics are right or else such a crime will always be termed as normal.
How has been it working with your co-actors?
All the co-actors are talented in their own ways and it’s always fun to be around them. Through our work, it’s so much that we learn from each other. As Gulki (Haseena) is known to be the prankster, it’s always a gala time on set. I closely work with Sonali (Pushpa) and her industry experience is something I really like to listen to. It feels great to be part of such a hardworking team.
Any final message
I am really happy that people are liking the show and I hope they continue to do so. Keep watching Maddam Sir and keep showering your love on us.
