Niyati Fatnani, the talented actress, is creating a niche in the Indian television industry, absolutely on merit and hard work. She is known for her stellar performance in the lead role in Star Plus’ Nazar. Now, the actress is back on screen with a new show. Niyati is currently seen as Ginni Grewal in Star Bharat’s latest show Channa Mereya. In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, the actress spoke in length about her new show, co-star Karan Wahi and more. Read on:

What prompted you to take up the show?

I was scared initially to take up the show. I had no reference point as it is not even connected with the kind of roles I have done in the past. But I took up the role to enhance my abilities. Because as an actor, I don’t want to limit myself. Instead, I want to go beyond the surface. And these kinds of challenges make the work so interesting and fun.

Tell us something about your character…

I am essaying the role of Ginni Grewal, a vivacious young girl who is full of life. She runs a popular Dhaba in Amritsar and serves food with love. She is like a bright star, always shining and spreading light. She lost her father at a very young age, so, she took up the responsibility for her family.

Any special preparation you did for the show?

My character in the show speaks Punjabi dialect since she is based out of Amritsar. And Punjabi is a new dialect for me. Neither had I spoken Punjabi nor had any Punjabi friends, so I had to learn the nuances and the diction to get a perfect grasp of the same. I have given a lot of time to get hold of this particular dialect. I spend extra time trying to understand the tone and tonality of the Punjabi dialect/language.

Do you find any similarities between you and your character?

Positivity and love for family are the two similarities between Niyati and Ginni.

How is Karan Wahi as a co-star? How has your experience been working with him?

He is a fantastic actor no doubt. Karan is warm and welcoming in nature. It’s fun to work with him due to his joyful vibes.

If not an actor, what would you be?

If not an actor, I would definitely be a dancer. I have been very fond of dancing since childhood. In fact, my journey to acting started when I came to Mumbai to learn dancing. Acting is a passion for me, but dancing will always be my first love.

Finally, your message to your fans.

I just hope that they keep showering the same love and support as they have been doing since I started my career.
