Resham Tipnis is quite satisfied with the growth of her grayish comic character in &TV show, Half Marriage.“After running for six to seven months, we are now taking the leap. Let us see how the story pans out. But rest assured, Janaki will continue to wreck havoc as before.”

Resham, who has been around for years, does not really take the issue of TRPs seriously. &TV does not boast big numbers. “Ratings are the headache of the channel and producer. If this show shuts, I will get another one. My fans watch my show for me, irrespective of whether it is popular or not, so why take extra tension?”

“I come in at 9 am, do my thing and leave by 9pm. Having said that, I have a good working equation with Rajshri Productions. They had given me a strong character in cult Sahara One show, Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, as well. Even then, I had a tag line. Now my current one-liner, Janki Sab Janti Hai, is equally popular. My fans keep repeating it.”

Here, she added that it was quite sad that the next generation of actors is not really as prepared as they were in their time.“It is also not their fault, for, telecast pressures scuttle advance scripting possibilities. I don’t get into their space and they also respect mine. I just have one piece of advice to anyone who wants to stay the course out here– don’t get involved in others’ fiascos.”

Resham, who had first come on the screen with Campus, says,“This 1994 Zee TVshow is the closest to myheart, for it made me known. I also loved doing Gudgee for four years. This laugh riot, directed by Ajay Sinha of Hasratein fame, boasted of 2 camera set ups, back in the nineties.” Her other, more recent shows have been Do Dil Ek Jaan and Satrangi Sasural.

Looking ahead, she would be game for web series as well. “I like to try out all mediums, be it films (was a part of Jai Ho), theater, TV and now web.” She also has no qualms about trying out bolder digital characters. “It fits my personality.”

In closing, long-time divorcee Resham has no plans to settle down again.“My 2 kids are my life.” She had married TV actor Sanjeev Seth in 1993, but they went separate ways in 2004.
