Shashank Vyas is not very perturbed by the low numbers of his Colors show, Roop Mard Ka Naya Swaroop. “These things are anyway above my pay grade. As an artist, it is my job to essay the given lines to the best of my ability, which I have always done, right from my Balika Vadhu days.”

“Also, so far I have not got any negative feedback regarding my acting, from any quarters. People do question my character’s actions, but then that is the call of the creative team. For example, the flak for the earlier track when Roop had dumped family for his wife.”

Shashank, who had last done Jaana Na Dil Se Door, added, “As artists, we get an inner feel about whether we are going right or not. It is very essential for me to be creatively satisfied, given that I dedicate most of my day to my acting craft.”

“For a while, we had indeed deviated from our core ideology, focusing only on particular aspects of Roop’s life. But now, we are back on the ball.”

When asked about the fear whether Roop might not last beyond the IPL/Cricket World Cup, Shashank said matter of factly, “Today, everything is in a state of flux. When ratings and channel positioning change overnight, why lose sleep over something that is still 2/3 months down the road.”

“Also, I have always maintained that TRP itself is a very complex phenomenon. Sometimes, very good shows get bad numbers and vice versa.”
