I am the only real actor around, for I have not done anything else, not even reality shows – Harshad Chopda

Harshad Chopda is back, and is all set to enthral audiences with Colors’ Bepannaah.

Harshad Chopda is quite an honest dude!! Unlike others, he does not claim that his new Colors show Bepannaah is different. “It is normal but yet good. I only pick up stuff which will excite me for at least the first eight months, knowing very well that beyond it, life will become a torture.”

Coming to the story of Cinevistaas Limited’s Bepannaah, he says, “The hatred and loss that Jennifer Winget and my characters experience, having discovered that our now-deceased, respective spouses were cheating on us, is interesting. Aditya has many questions in mind, but with the principal players involved no longer around, he really does not know whom to ask. And the only person who might have some clue is Zoya (Jennifer). Hence, I really download on her. What really takes my character’s goat is Zoya’s reaction that she does not believe that her hubby Yash (Sehban Azim) could have strayed. He also keeps berating her to not suffer and move on, yet inside he is as torn as her.”

Here, Harshad assuages audience fears that Zoya and Aditya’s eventual coming together will be slow and gradual, and will not be hastened by TRP pulls and pressures, “For we have a strong limited script, even if we hurry, we can wrap things up in a year or the normal process would last for around 15 odd months.”

Coming to co-star Jennifer, he says, “Although we are yet to break the ice, having just started shooting, she is a thorough professional sans tantrums. This is the benefit of casting serious actors– shooting becomes a breeze,” says Harshad, who has given hit shows like Left Right Left, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, Tere Liye and Dil Se Di Dua – Saubhagyavati Bhava.

Harshad, who had been away from TV for the past 3 years, has no regrets about the break. “Destiny had written that I was about to have a bad time with 2016 The End and Meenu Mausi. The former demonetization-hit flick sank without a trace, and the latter show did not see the light of day. So I don’t really fret over things. Rather, I am thankful that fate has given me another chance with Bepannaah, which seems promising.”

His last small-screen appearance was Humsafars, on Sony.

Here, he makes another frank admission that even after so many years, he still gets nervous when starting on a new project. “I only feel satisfied after doing good work.”

Shifting gears to social media, Harshad says he is yet to come to terms with this new phenomenon. “I prefer commenting only when I feel the need to vent or say something. Having said that, accepting that we are now required to be active, I will try to be unique in all my postings.”

In closing, Harshad says he has no plan to become a director or producer. “I am quite satisfied with my lot as an actor. In a way, I am the only real actor around, for I have not done anything else, not even reality shows.”

May you have a great run with Bepannaah, Harshad!!
