Actor Mallika Nayak who essays the role of Sakshi, the mother of dead Pooja Hooda (Namita Dubey), is thoroughly enjoying her stint in the Colors show Bepannaah (Cinevistaas).
Says the actress, “It has been just over three months or so with the show. But I am enjoying it to the core. Sakshi has a lot of seriousness to her, has depth and layers in her character which will open up with the track progression. She’s a lady of few words, and depicts her expressions through her eyes and face. I like it as I get to porttay a lot through my eyes and facial expressions. Her frustration, desperation are seen in her eyes. She’s going through a guilt wave after what her daughter has done and what her son-in-law is facing now. Overall, she is a very complex character to perform.”
Working with Cinevistaas is like home for Mallika and she claims that in her career lasting five years, she has never worked with such amazing producers and team. “I hope this innings of mine in Bepannaah goes on for a long time.”
Ask her about the connecting factor of the show with the audience and she states, “The real hero of our show is the story. Yes, we do have Harshad Chopda and Jennifer Winget but there is so much happening in the story, and there is so much that is going to happen. This is one show where all the actors and characters have enough to do and this is a rarity in the given time. No one is standing in the background, and this is the efficiency with which the characters have been written and etched. What you see on screen is the amalgamantion of all this!!”
Talking about the competition that prevails in today’s time on TV, she explains, “There are so many channels and so much of content available on a platter that it is very difficult to keep the viewers hooked on to a show. The content has to be engaging enough to not divert them even for a second. We are trying our best as a team to gain this and keep the content as lively and engaging as possible.”
The lady shares an amazing bond with her onscreen son-in-law, Harshad Chopda. “Harshad is like a son to me. We have an amazing bond. He’s a fantastic performer and a great human being. He keeps me on my toes usually, as he comes on set so very well-prepared. I have had most of my scenes with Harshad. I have not yet shot with Zoya (Jennifer). She’s again a marvellous actor and I look forward to my scenes with her. I also need to mention our director, and everyone back the stage. My stylist and costume person is amazing. She has given me a very good look. In fact I have got calls saying that I look very graceful on screen. All credit for this has to go to my stylist.”
Mallika who has earlier done shows like Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka, Khwabon Ki Zameen Par on Zindagi and Swim Team is also the official voice of HDFC Bank. She dubs for movies too whenever she has time on hand. “TV has taken much of my time now. Hence I take up only selective work with respect to dubbing. Since I am the voice of HDFC Bank, I take up their work regularly. Otherwise, TV is all the way for me.”
Mallika, continue your good work!!
