All eyes and sympathy lies with Malini at the moment in Imlie. What have you to say?

Yes, very true!! Malini is going through a lot and there is a lot of drama that will come. Thanks to viewers for all the love.

How has the journey of Imlie been for you?

It’s quite good. The word journey in itself says everything. The character of Malini has a good journey. That is what excited me for the character. For an actor, anything that is stagnant can hit boredom. Malini has so many phases to undergo because of the circumstances she is put in. I look forward to Malini’s journey every day, to be honest (smiles).

How similar or different are you from Malini?

Even I don’t react immediately like Malini, I only respond. I think about situations and then respond. But I guess Malini has bit more patience than Mayuri.

How have you enjoyed the chemistry and bond of Malini and Aditya? How do you look forward to the major change in Malini now?

As a performer, both Gashmeer and I enjoyed that phase of being together. Today, a lot of the audience misses this phase. It was mature romance; we did not have to say too much. To underplay and be subtle in romance in a daily soap is a privilege. A lot was conveyed and understood. We really enjoyed that journey. Now, the character will undergo evolution and transformation considering the situation she is put into. When we are put through trying times, we come out different. The manner in which Malini takes this personal setback and the way in which she will come out of it will be for the viewers to see. I look forward to the phase ahead as a real life journey that anybody will undertake. A lot of things in the script and story are kept realistic, so I personally am excited to shoot for this phase.

How do you react to your scenes and present it on screen in such a natural manner?

As an actor, I have to first forget that I watch television. I have to forget that I am seeing Aditya and Imlie together on TV. While performing the scenes, I need to have a clean slate. Malini was in a phase where she could not doubt on Imlie at all. Yes, the current change in behavior in Aditya has been working in her mind. But the change in Malini and what she believes in will slowly change with time. All the intricate detailing has given a lot of dignity to the character of Malini.

Malini is going through a lot and a huge section of fans are supporting your character. How do you deal with fans considering that few are for and against certain characters?

The reason why there is so much feedback to the extent of love and hate, is because viewers are engaged and are so into the show. I do not want to demean that thought by saying that I don’t care about what they think. We definitely take into account the love that is being showered towards us. We are all playing characters; yes, Malini is going through a very vulnerable phase right now. There is a section of fans that are very angry at what is happening to her. Yes, I am happy that they like my journey. But writing mean and nasty things about other characters is not done. If you really want to give me a compliment, do not hate somebody else. That is not a genuine compliment. That’s not the right way to love somebody. As story tellers and performers, we are here to generate certain emotions in viewers. When we do that, it is a success of our skills. But it has to be taken in the right spirit and as a story. Nothing should be personal where people go and bash other characters just because they love Malini. Nothing justifies spreading negativity and hatred.

How is it to work with Gashmeer and Sumbul?

It is genuinely good to be with the people we are with. Gashmeer, Sumbul and I shoot a lot together. And thankfully, we have a good chemistry even off screen. There should not be any bad blood or rivalry. We keep laughing on the set. Same with the other cast. Honestly, Imlie has a very sensible cast. We all gel really well. The journey becomes pleasant and smooth when you are working with great souls. We all are lucky to have each other.

What do you want to tell your fans?

We are just grateful for all the love. We have constantly held the second spot with numbers. This was really unexpected. Nobody looked at Imlie as a much-anticipated show which will create wonders. It came out of nowhere and won everyone’s hearts. We just hope we keep getting the same and move love of fans.

Last but not the least, what do you think is the reason for this huge connect of the show with the audience?

Of course, the chemistry that the three of us share, and also with the others in the cast has connected well with viewers. Every character has its own prevalence in the storyline. Viewers get a wide number of characters to connect to and everyone has a different flavor. Also, there is no typical vamp in the show.
