I regard my role in Rishton Ka Chakravyuh to be my best outing so far – Mahima Makwana

Mahima Makwana the aggressive and determined Anami of Star Plus' Chakravyuh talks about her new show and role.

Mahima Makwana is pleasantly surprised with the positive reaction her 6 pm Star Plus show Rishton Ka Chakravyuh is gathering. “I am happy with the reviews and the positive social media chatter.”

“I guess what works is our differentiated story. Unlike the normal saas bahu saga, we trace the conflict between my dabang character Anami who was abandoned as a child by her mother (Narayani Shastri), only to be brought back to get the royal throne. So my character’s angst with her mother is justified,” explains Mahima.

Having said that the show does not revolve around our 2 characters alone, all the players in the show are equally important as the conspiracy angle is played out.”

About Anami’s entry into the royal family she says, “My character being a Benarsi girl does not have a royal bone in her body; she is your typical jhalli. While they on the other hand are people with class, so they expect her to change, cutting her jatta etc.”

“I am loving my character for she is taking the case of everybody in the house. There is so much spice in her, most importantly the dialogues written for me are superb. I have something to do every other day. I regard this as my best outing so far.”

Mahima is enjoying working with senior actors. “Narayani mam is a very professional and chilled out person. Not only her, all the seniors are fun to work with. I am waiting for my scene with Narayani and Sangeeta Ghosh who is the main antagonist.”

Mahima who has been around since 2012 is loving her TV journey so far. “I have got to play different characters, be it the shy demure Rachana in Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke to Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane and now this. I hope to get more challenging roles which will prove my mettle as an actor. I don’t like to stand in the frame just doing nothing.”

After her South film Venkatapuram released earlier this year she is now open to Hindi films as well. “But a lot depends on the script and kind of character on offer.” She refused to comment on doing bold stuff saying, “ I will cross that bridge when I come to it, as one does not know what comfort level I would have down the road.”

Coming to the early evening slot she says, “I am more bothered about my act rather than the slot for I genuinely feel that a good story will find its audiences as we have done. Having said that, had we come on air during prime time, TRP would have been in a different zone.”

Mahima, we wish you luck!!
