Actress Rinku Ghosh, last seen in the show Anokha Bandhan, fondly remembers celebrating Children’s Day as a kid. She said, “On Children’s Day, i.e., 14th November, various programs were held in school. Like the elocution competition, singing, dancing, drawing competitions, etc., to enhance our talents. We all used to have so much fun that day with no studies.”

Though as a kid she wasn’t too sure about a career, she excelled in dancing and wanted to become a classical dancer. She added, “From dance, I got inspiration, as people would appreciate my expression and performance on stage. So I got the confidence, you can say.”

Rinku believes that values and culture should be imbibed in children right from a young age, as they stay with us our whole lives. She said, “My parents taught me to be compassionate and empathetic from childhood. They would guide me if I did wrong to somebody. And this has guided me in my career as well. I can emote better because I can feel the character.”

She also mentions that children should be encouraged to pursue their hobbies and passions. “In Bengali culture, a child has to learn any form of art that he/she likes apart from just studies. It’s a must in our culture. Our parents always encouraged us to explore ourselves,” she says.

Rinku shares that as a child she learned that when doing a good deed, it should be done with a pure intention and not wanting for it to come back. She adds, “Just do it and forget.”

Any advice to your younger self? “Be more patient and calmer,” she ends.
