Abhishek Malik who essays the role of Rohan in Star Plus’ popular show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein produced by Balaji Telefilms has been having a joyous ride with the character.

The character has exhibited various shades and Abhishek has enjoyed playing all the phases in it.

Says Abhishek, “Initially Rohan was grey shaded, and I was told that there will be many layers in the character. Rohan has been negative and positive too in his journey with Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. He was heart-broken when Aliya (Krishna Mukherjee) chose Yug over him. He turned negative, but then circumstances have now again changed him to be a positive person by heart. So Rohan is not a bad person; he has been affected by various situations he has faced. As far as Rohan is concerned, his life has seen many ups and downs.”

Ask him about his approach to the changes in the character and Abhishek states, “Karan and Rohan have had various layers as individuals. Initially, Rohan was manipulating everybody, and I found this part very challenging. This was not me at all. Getting really aggressive in the character and ridiculing people was very difficult. People used to hate me during this phase. But I took it as an appreciation, because I was able to convince viewers in this negative shade of mine. But then the moment I turned positive, people started loving me. I saw my following decrease when Rohan was negative (smiles).  And the moment he turned positive, they came back to me. So fans can get really emotional at times and do not understand that an actor is just performing a role.”

Talking about his Yeh Hai Mohabbatein journey, Abhishek avers, “I have lived a good journey with Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. I have seen reactions of viewers changing with the changes in Rohan’s character. I accepted the negativity and positivity coming from viewers with open arms.”

Abhishek has learned a lot from his co-actors in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. “I appreciate Divyanka Tripathi and Karan Patel for the focus they show towards their scenes. Karan when on set not only knows his lines, but also the lines of his co-actors. Divyanka chills out and enjoys with the cast, but the moment she is before the camera, she is so focussed in the character. As an actor, I want to keep on learning from whatever I see around me.”

Wish you luck, Abhishek!!
