Rubina Dilaik is an Indian actress who predominantly performs in Hindi television and Hindi movies (born August 26, 1987). She appeared in the hit television program Chotti Bahu as Radhika in 2008, marking her acting debut. She later appeared in Punar Vivah – Ek Nayi Umeed as Divya Jakhotia and Jeannie Aur Juju as Jeannie. For her portrayal of the transgender Soumya Harman Singh in Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, Dilaik is most recognized. She competed in Bigg Boss 14 in 2020 and won the competition.

Despite preparing for an IAS career and beginning her acting career with Chotti Bahu, she was chosen at Chandigarh auditions. In the Zee TV series Chotti Bahu, opposite Avinash Sachdev, Dilaik played Radhika Shastri, a character she again played in the follow-up. She portrayed Simran “Smiley” Gill in the 2012 season of Saas Bina Sasural on Sony TV. She played Jeannie in SAB TV’s Jeannie Aur Juju in 2014 and Sita in Life OK’s mythological series Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev in 2013.

In the Colors TV series Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, which ran from 2016 to 2020, Dilaik played the transgender character Soumya Singh opposite Vivian Dsena. For this role, she received awards for Best Personality at the 2017 Golden Petal Awards for Colors and Best Actress at the 2017 ITA Awards. She returns to the show in March 2021.” Dilaik competed in the fourteenth season of Bigg Boss, the Indian equivalent of the reality TV series Big Brother, in October 2020. Together with her spouse Abhinav Shukla, she participated in the house. She remained in the house for 20 weeks before winning. Dilaik took part in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 12 in 2022. It was confirmed that Dilaik would take part in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10 in August 2022.

This show paved the way for the respectful recognition of the eunuchs in our society as the third gender. In this drama, the actress Rubina Dilaik is born a eunuch, but her family denies her a normal childhood and keeps her from her true identity. As the “Hijra” community arrives to accompany her, she learns about it from them. In the program, history is repeated as Jigyasa Singh is likewise born into the family as a eunuch. The reality tears her apart even though becoming a bride has been her main ambition since she was a young child. The characters of Rubina and Jigyasa demonstrated how our society denigrates the third gender and that, in contrast, they ought to be treated equally.
