Bhanu Uday, best known for his role in TV crime series ‘Special Squad’ and currently seen as Vijay Namdhari in Star Bharat’s Saam Daam Dand Bhed, says he is portraying dream role which every actor would want to portray in his career.
He shares, “I was already verbally committed to doing something else. I had auditioned for Saam Daam long back. I got a call from the Head of Production Sunil, he was so passionate about having me on the show so I couldn’t resist myself. I was committed to something else so I went to say no to them. But I was impressed by the concept of the show. This is a dream role which every actor would want to portray. However, I have been very lucky with the kind of roles that I have got in my career. It is a great role. I begged out of the prior commitment. This is how I got the role.”
There is a mystery to his role, talking about the same, he avers, “The show was supposed to have another storyline for that I had to look like a 40 year old man. However, they changed the storyline and the hero was supposed to be around 25 years old. The producer was keen on taking me for the role so I had to lose weight to look younger. I feel really blessed. This kind of the role comes once in a life time. I feel I am already playing three characters as it has a lot of shades. The production house Shakuntalam has such creative people. They just want to tell a great story. On top of the show the channel is promoting it in an amazing way so I am feeling very grateful.”
Bhanu feels that Saam Daam Dand Bhed is different from the shows that are airing on TV. “The way our show is shot makes it different from the rest. It is like filming like a movie. Saam Daam Dand Bhed is a content driven show. The story is amazing. We have always seen a show being revolved around a woman. However, our show is about a guy. If audience will see one episode of the daily they will understand how different this is from the rest of the shows. I am here to do great roles. I am attached to acting and the medium doesn’t matter to me. I am here to do great roles.”
Lastly, when asked about fatherhood, he quips, “It is weird that everything is happening at the same time. I just became a father and also started doing a show simultaneously. I work day night. When I leave for work, my baby is sleeping and when I return home he is again sleeping. I am really enjoying my work but the only sacrifice is that I am not able to see my son grow up.”
Way to go Bhanu!
