Star Plus mytho show, Karn Sangani, starring Tejasswi Prakash and Aashim Gulati, has opened to lacklustre ratings. This story about Karn’s fictitious wife is not based on the original Mahabharata, but on Kavita Kane’s novel, Karna’s Wife.
Tejasswi, last seen in Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya, says, “The makers (Shashi Sumeet Mittal) are fully cognizant of the current situation and are in the process of changing the whole story.”
When asked whether it could be that the audience did not warm up to changes in the original Mahabharat, she just quipped, “I don’t know.”
She refused to spell out the new tracking, saying, “It is still being creatively worked out. It is always better to give the audience what they want, for we are not making shows for ourselves.”
“Accordingly, the producers have scrapped eight episodes and are shooting them again. This obviously has financial implications, but they are ready to do what it takes, being creative producers and not money-minded.”
Personally, Tejasswi does not bother too much about numbers, “For these commercial things are beyond my remit. We, as artists, are required to put in our 100%, no matter if the show is a chartbuster or low on numbers.”
“I have full faith in Shashi Sumeet Mittal, for we are now like family, hanging out together, going out for movies. I am kept in the loop about all creative decisions, though they don’t need to involve me; but they graciously take my opinion. I also attend channel meetings as part of the team.”
In closing, Tejasswi adds, “A new promo is also being cut, and I am confident that going ahead, we will certainly give our viewers much more than what they expected.”
