Auto Draft 2978

Siddhant Karnick has always chosen the most exciting of roles, from having played a vampire, to a womanizing guy and now to playing the theatre artist Ganpat Rao in Sony TV‘s Mere Sai.

Says Siddhant, “Actually the character turned out to be more interesting than what I thought it to be. I picked it up as I had donned mostly the sophisticated characters and had never played one like this before. Actually, I took it up for two reasons. The first one being that I had not been seen on TV for a while. Secondly, the character in itself sounded very interesting. It was about a theatre artist coming to Shirdi to perform there. He is a guy with massive ego. I had heard lot of good things about the show and how well the writing is for the show. I am actually surprised how good this track has turned out to be. I am thoroughly enjoying playing Ganpat Rao.”

“It is not one of those daily soaps where it stays around the romantic angle. It has an interesting story and scope for improvisation has been allowed over here,” adds the talented actor who has done TV shows Mahi Way, Aasmaan Se Aage, Gustakh Dil, Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani.

Ask him about the best part of playing Ganpat Rao and he is quick to say, “Honestly, it is the way he is, and the shot taking of Ganpat Rao that makes it different. Usually on TV, one tends to get into a lot of close-up shots. But this character talks with the entire body. And this is the best part of playing it.”

Siddhant confides that he had to make a lot of adjustments to get into this role. “The look and attire was also very new to me. I had to completely change my body language. The character is very different; he is not a hero, not a villain too. He has a massive ego, is an actor and theatre artist. In totality, he is a revolutionary who is not good, not bad but a fraud. So I get huge scope for performance.”

Siddhant has a special mention for the Producer Nitin Vaidya (Dashami Creations) and his team here. “I am very impressed and thank the makers of Mere Sai for keeping the pace of the story fast. I am happily surprised to see the track of a TV show progressing so fast.”

Ask him about his track’s closure and he states, “All good things do come to an end. I don’t know when my track will end, but it will for sure.”

Siddhant who always makes that special effort to do things differently will soon get into production after having successfully learnt the nuances of direction and editing on his channel on the digital space.

Before ending, Siddhant tells us that he will surely travel to Shirdi once his shoot for the show ends. “I am from Nasik, but I have never been to Shirdi. I get fascinated reading about people walking to Shirdi. I guess I might just walk to Shirdi one day. Actually last year, I and my wife (actor Megha Gupta) rode on our cycles from Patiala to Delhi in just few days. So we might just walk it off to Shirdi this year, you never know!!”

Way to go, Siddhant!!
