Niya Sharma, who was last seen on Vani Rani, has recently stepped into Priyamvada Kant’s shoes to play Tenali’s wife, Sharda in SAB TV’s Tenali Rama.
She says, “After portraying negative shades in my previous shows, I really wanted to take up a comedy genre series. It’s also challenging to play a historical character with a comic twist. The other challenge was that I was replacing an actress. Audience already loved Priyamvada as Sharda, so it would be difficult for me to make them believe in me and accept my part. With replacement, expectation and comparison also come hand in hand. However, I take my character in the show as a fresh one and I hope to do justice with my role.”
Niya says that her co-stars have been very supportive. She shares, “Krishna was very helping. I am not great with the Hindi dialogues and the other team members are fluent as they have been working on the show for a year now. I am glad they have been supporting and helping me with my dialogue.”
When we ask how she prepared herself for the role, she adds, “I am an intense and soft spoken person whereas my character Sharda is very energetic and out spoken. She is full of life hence I have to be very charged up all day.”
On an end not, she says, “My face is cute so I believe audience will love me and accept me soon as Sharda. (laughs)”
Well said, girl!
