From Television to Bollywood: the journey of Mouni Roy

Mouni Roy is an Indian television and film actress who got famous for playing Krishna Tulsi in Kyunki Sas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi in 2007, Sati in Devon Ka Dev…Mahadev and Shivangi in Naagin.

Mouni is a trained Kathak dancer, who was also a finalist on Jhalak Dikhlaja in 2014. She appeared as a background dancer in the song Nahi Hona in the movie Run in 2004.

She made her Indian television debut in 2007 with Ekta Kapoor’s drama, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She has acted in many daily soaps like Kasturi, Pati Patni Aur Woh and Do Saheliyaan. She gained real fame after playing the role of Sati in the mythological series, Devon ka Dev… Mahadev and also played the lead in Junoon- Aisi Naffrat Toh Kaisa Ishq. Mouni played a double role in Season 2 of Naagin, where she came into stardom as a leading actress in the Indian television industry.

In 2018, she made her Bollywood debut with the movie Gold. She made a special appearance in the film K.G.F: Chapter 1. In 2019 she also starred in the movies: RAW- Romeo Akbar Walter and Made In China, while she also appeared in the final few episodes of Naagin 3. This was her breakthrough in television as well as Bollywood. She will also be starring in two upcoming projects, Mogul and Brahmastra, set to release in 2020.
