Aditi Sajwan, who has been winning hearts with her role Koyal in SAB TV’s Chidiya Ghar, has come a long way in her career.

The actress has impressed audience with her powerful roles in shows like Balveer, Meera and Krishna.

In conversation with IndianWikiMedia, Aditi spoke about her journey in Chidiya Ghar, aspirations as an actor, marriage plans and more…

Excerpts:

How has your journey been in the show?

I completed three years in Chidiyaghar. This was my first show in the comedy genre and I played different variation of characters. Initially, I was skeptical because this was the third replacement of the same character. I thought they are not taking the character seriously but later I realized that Koyal is the most serious character amongst others.

She continued…

This character is really close to me as I am also like Komal. I can very well relate to the character. I am blessed that audience have given me so much love and has welcomed me with open arms. I feel that I am performing when I start my shoot; for an actor this feeling is very satisfying. I am not biased towards any genre. I am blessed that I have got the best of everything in my career.

What makes Chidiya Ghar a unique show amongst others?

Along with comedy, it is the slice of life feel that makes it special. Chidiya Ghar has relatable characters. Our stories play major roles for the popularity of the show. We have talented bunch of actors. We personally enjoy our characters and show.

Do you fear getting stereotyped after playing a mother on-screen?

This not the first time I am playing a mother on-screen. I feel the industry is very open and gives actors a chance to enact powerful characters. It is not the phase where we get stereotyped. I won’t like to do the same thing all over again. I replaced Shilpa and Shubhangi who are quite senior to me. When I got in, I never thought about playing a mother on-screen. In comedy shows it doesn’t matter what your character is. However, it does matter in a daily soap.

Who has been the biggest support in your career?

My parents have been the biggest support for me in my career. My mother always pushed me and I used to excel in everything. I have a very loving boyfriend Zeb Khan, who has been with me throughout my journey.  He has seen my growth in my professional and personal life. He has also supported me.

What are your aspirations as an actor?

My aspirations are too big. Television happened naturally to me; so I wish films too happen naturally to me. My ultimately goal is to do a movie.

You have explored almost all the genres, but do you wish to portray any specific type of role on-screen?

I have done all the genres but I am yet to do different characters. If I talk about Balaji Telefilms, I really like the way they portray their female protagonist, as a strong woman. I want to do a character which makes a mark on audiences’ hearts. I love characters which are larger than life.

Whats your take on the current scenario of TV?

Initially, there were less channels and shows; hence we did not have any option. Now, there a lot of channels and numerous shows airing on it, so audience have choices. Initially, there were episodics and we had time to rehearse. But now we have to shoot 16 hours in a day to get one episode ready for telecast. We do degrade the quality of the show for quantity. There are shows which we don’t like, but then they on the TRP charts. So there are people who like such shows and watch them rigorously. On the whole, I would say TV is going good.

On the personal front, when is marriage happening?

We are also planning about the same. Marriage has to happen. It might be in a year or half. I and Zeb complement each other. There is love and friendship in our relationship. Zeb is a genuine and gem of a person.
