Maninder Singh who essays the role of Kanhaiya in Kya Hai Mister Panchaal (Optimystix) is happy that he has finally got to test the waters of ‘comedy’ with this Star Bharat show.
The talented actor has earlier been considered for either the serious roles or the action-packed ones in both the small as well as the big screen!!
Says Maninder, “I needed a break from doing the action oriented and serious roles. This is my first opportunity in comedy genre and I thank Optimystix for recognizing my flair in comedy. Optimystix is the best in the business of comedy and I can’t be asking for anything more.”
The story behind Maninder bagging the role of Kanhaiya is actually interesting. “I had given audition for another comedy project of Optimystix. But then when they were looking for the lead in Panchaal, they actually remembered me and called me for an audition and I got it. I am enjoying this phase; and trust me, doing comedy is actually serious business.”
Ask him why and how he got type casted for serious roles and he says, “All started with the serious role in the movie Swami, after which I did another similar one in the movie Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey. After this, I bagged the role in TV show Chabbis Barah, which was another intense role. Recently, I did Sanyukt which was also on similar lines. But now, I am glad that I have broken the image and have done it really well.”
On the response got for his Star Bharat show, he explains, “The reactions have been very encouraging. People have liked me in this attitude. In fact, in real life, I am nowhere close to being serious. I am fun to be with. I am a live-wire and I am happy to portray a part of me in the show.”
Maninder also has some similarities when it comes to his real life and character. “I too adore and respect my mother like Kanhaiya. I have a great sense of balancing, just like Kanhaiya is balancing his five wives and mother (laughs). You can give me lot many tasks and I will balance it pretty well. Of course, I bear no similarities when it comes to having five wives (laughs). I am still unmarried and I really have no time as of now.”
Maninder, wish you luck!!
