Shalu Shreya, who plays Mala Vajpayee in Rahul Kumar Tewary and Rolling Tales Production’s Ram Bhavan on Colors, shares her excitement and thoughts on celebrating Holi. The actress embraces colours as a reflection of her personality. “I think I am full of colours, the way I am. But if asked particularly, I would always pick White or Yellow. These two colours resonate with my personality a lot and obviously dominate the rainbow in me.”

When it comes to playing Holi, Shalu prefers a dry celebration with organic gulaal rather than getting drenched in water. “I don’t like being drenched—that’s my pet peeve. Although, as a kid, I used to love playing with water balloons with my family and friends, looking at the increasing number of cases where people get hurt, I abstain from it now. I also suggest everyone avoid it.”

No Holi is complete without delicious treats, and for Shalu, Gujiya takes the top spot. “I love Gujiya! Wherever I see Gujiya, in every box, I take it. I love, love, love Gujiya!” Other festive favourites for her include Malpua, Bhujia, and Pakode.

When it comes to Holi fashion, white is her go-to colour. “I prefer to wear white but coordinate it with some colour—maybe denim shorts with a white shirt or t-shirt, or a skirt paired with a colourful dupatta. But white, definitely!”

Recalling her most cherished Holi memories, Shalu shares, “The best Holi memories would be with my Dadaji in my childhood. Whenever Holi came, there was dhol, manjira, and special food. In Mumbai, Holi celebrations feel different, but the excitement level remains the same!”

Wishing our readers a very Happy Holi!!
