Actor Paras Madaan, who is currently seen playing the role of Rajshekhar in Star Plus and Boyhood Productions’ Pocket Mein Aasmaan, says that he is a big fan of Holi. He adds that when it comes to playing Holi, he loves playing a dry version, rather than using water and water balloons.

“I am a total gulaal fan. There’s something magical about the vibrant colours and the gentle, playful way it’s applied. I love the tradition of making a gentle ‘tika’ with the gulaal, and the joy of being surrounded by loved ones, all adorned in a kaleidoscope of colours. The dry Holi celebration with gulaal is a beautiful way to connect with loved ones and revel in the festive spirit!” he says.

He adds, “I strongly advise against playing Holi with water balloons. They can cause serious injuries, especially to the eyes and face, and can also lead to slipping and falling hazards. Moreover, they waste a significant amount of water. Instead, let’s opt for safer and more eco-friendly ways to celebrate Holi, like using pichkaris or sprinkling coloured water. Safety and sustainability should be our top priority.”

Sharing his best Holi memories, he says, “My best Holi memories are from my childhood. I remember waking up early, wearing old clothes, and running outside to play with my friends and family. We would fill our pichkaris with coloured water and chase each other around, laughing and shouting. My siblings and I would also make a bonfire, burn Holika, and dance around it, feeling the warmth and excitement of the festival. Those carefree, joyful moments are etched in my memory forever.”

Food is a big part of the festival, says the actor, adding, “Holi is all about indulging in delicious food! My weakness is gujiyas and thandai! I love bingeing on these traditional Holi treats, along with some crispy papads and flavourful chaat items. The combination of sweet and savoury flavours is just irresistible!”

Happy Holi to all!!
