Chandni Sharma the talented actress who played the lead role in Sony TV’s Kaamnaa is happy with the journey she had with the show. With Kaamnaa wrapping up soon, Chandni recollects her pleasant memories from her first lead role show.
Says Chandni, “This was my first show as a lead. I was there right from day 1, from auditions, promotions, and outdoor shoots. I will always be grateful to the makers and the channel for believing in me. I have lived Akanksha every day. It also allowed me to be on KBC and sit across Amit ji. This show has given me a lot ?.”
Talking about the graph that her character saw, Chandni avers, “I loved the initial few months the most, where it was mostly me, my husband and our kid. The outdoor shoots, the butterflies in the stomach that you have in the beginning, I used to look forward and learn new things on set.”
On the roles, she looks forward to, Chandni states, “Anything different from both the characters played by me. It can be of an undercover agent, psycho killer, a politician. I would really love to try something different that challenges me as an actor.”
On her dream role, Chandi tells us, “I would love to do a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.”
Calling her co-actor from Kaamnaa, Abhishek Rawat special, Chandni quips, “I love Abhishek. He is the best co-actor one could ask for. His performance blows my mind every time. He does everything with so much ease. He is the most underrated actor in television.”
On embracing the OTT medium and going bold, Chandni states, “As an actor, if at all I feel the script demands anything I will be able to do justice with, I will take it up.”
On being typecast in a particular role, Chandni expresses, “It happens because it’s easier for people whether its a casting director, makers or audience to imagine you in similar kind of roles to what they have seen before. But it should be a conscious decision for an actor to break that. It can take time but is possible. Priyanka Chopra has done wonders as Megha in Fashion playing a supermodel and after that in Burfi where she plays an autistic girl.”
