I took Dev 2 to break the stereotype and I think it was a right decision: Jigyasa Singh

Bubbly and chirpy Jigyasa Singh, who became a household name as Thapki in Colors’ show Thapki Pyaar Ki, says that she took a right decision by taking up the series Dev 2.

“Initially, I was sceptical about whether I should take up Dev 2 right after Thapki, wherein I played a sweet and docile girl. I was scared of not being accepted by the audience. However, I wanted to break the Bahu image stereotype. I am happy that I made the right choice. I was also worried that the character might have no potential as it is a parallel lead but I am glad that it was nothing like that. I was given equal importance and it proved to be a life changing character for me,” shares the lovely actress.

She further adds, “There have been difficult times as we shot the entire show at outdoor locations. So after shooting on sets and coming to an outdoor shoot was a different ball game for me altogether. But I am happy that audience appreciated my efforts. Now, the series is wrapping up and we are shooting for the last 2 episodes.

Jigyasa feels that Dev 2 had more digital audience than TV. “I think Dev 2 has more online audience as we have great numbers there. However, I feel viewers love watching crime based shows and Dev 2 is a unique series when it comes to crime drama. It was hatke from others. I used to watch my show daily after going home as I was hooked to it. I am satisfied with all the love that we have received from the fans.”

Talking about working with co-star Ashish Chowdhry, she says, “When I signed the show and got to know that I will be paired opposite Ashish, I was very scared. I was a rookie and he was a Bollywood star; so I thought he might have his own way of dealing with people. However, my perception was changed. He is really a very humble guy. He is a gem of a person and helpful too.”

On an ending note, she adds, “I want to thank my fans for being there and pouring their love. I have not been active on social media because of the hectic shooting schedule but I want to thank you all. The love to my new character and show was unexpected; hence it is more overwhelming. After this show, I will go on a small break and come back with a bang for my audience. I won’t disappoint and keep them waiting for too long.”

Way to go girl!
