Talented actor Varun Toorkey has entered the longest running GEC show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus.
This popular show from Rajan Shahi’s banner Director’s Kut has been revolving around the complicated love story of Kartik (Mohsin Khan) and Naira (Shivangi Joshi) wherein the latter has lost her memory.
And the entry of Rishabh played by Varun has come in at a very important juncture.
Says Varun, “It has been over a week with the show. I am having fun. I will get to play with the character quite a lot as it progresses. Rishabh has come in as Naira’s childhood friend. He is a pleasant guy right now, very good at heart with good intentions. He has come in to help Naira after Naksh has called him here. When he came in, he knew that Naira has lost her memory. But after coming, he will get to know of Naira being married. It will be a bit hard for him to accept this fact as he has gotten attracted towards her. It is to be seen how he will react to the situations he will get into.”
Ask him whether there is a chance of his character turning negative and he says, “I am not exactly sure how the graph will go. But he will reach a point where he cannot get what he wants, and that might bring in a change in his thought process. It is to be seen whether he will continue to be selfless like how he is now, or turn selfish and think only about him.”
Varun who has had an interesting career with shows Uttaran, Qubool Hai, Humko Tumse Ho Gaya Hai Pyaar Kya Karein, is happy to be part of this long-running show. Ask him whether he had no apprehensions on being part of this popular show, and he states, “I was not apprehensive because I wanted to be part of this long-running show. I am quite happy to be here. Also, I was satisfied with the narration provided to me. So as far as that goes, I see more excitement than apprehensiveness on being part of Yeh Rishta.”
The talented actor has some special words for the cast and crew of the show. “It is a very comfortable unit to work with. Shooting is quite a breeze here, I must say. It actually did not take me even two hours to get comfortable with all on the set. This show has been running for so long that it is now a well-oiled machine. I was apprehensive about this fact rather than my character. People here know each other for such a long time now, and I wondered whether I would fit in and gel with them well. But as I said, it merely took an hour and more for me to get accepted by all.”
Varun points out that he has earlier got into long-running projects (Uttaran and Qubool Hai) and had no problem in doing that again. “I am a go-with-the-flow kind of a guy. When the opportunity of getting into Yeh Rishta came, I was excited. I did not overthink on it as I wanted to do the show.”
Varun has had most of his scenes till now with Shivangi Joshi and Shehzad Shaikh (Naksh). “Shivangi is lovely to work with and the same is with Shehzad. It is totally a positive environment out there as everyone works towards making a good product. And this is what I am looking forward to do now.”
