Aparna Dixit, of Kalash fame, who has been away from the arc lights for a while, will soon return to acting, courtesy a crime-based web series and the Box Cricket League.
“I am doing Vikram Bhatt’s upcoming digital show, titled Unafraid, which traces the life of a fearless cop who does not get respect at her office, being a newbie, and at home by hubby as well. She is confronted with a rape-murder case, which will challenge her no ends.”
“The best part of this story is that it falls bang within my comfort zone, i.e. no bold stuff. I always wanted to do web, which is the new in thing, but was hesitant due to this very reason. Hence, when this offer came my way, I grabbed it with both hands.”
Coming to BCL, this is Aparna’s second season. “Last time around, since I was very busy shooting Kalash, I did not really pay attention to the actual game. I was just having fun, clicking selfies and simply enjoying. But now, I hope to play as well as have fun. This time, I will make it a point to attend all the practice sessions, to get a hang of the sport.”
Ask her about the allegations that there is too much drama in BCL, which will air on MTV this time, and she says, “Besides cricket, we do need to add stuff, because the public likes to watch interactions among the actors, including fights. It is heartening to see most actors take time out from their busy schedules for cricket, which is not their mainstay. Despite that, players like Hiten Tejwani really perform in the middle. Forget guys, even some girls, like Aditi Gupta, played like pros last season.”
Despite doing web, Aparna is still eager to get back to TV. “Having done it for four long years (Best Friends Forever, Pavitra Rishta, Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hai, etc.), the tube is my first love. I am waiting for something juicy.”
Here she adds, “An actor always craves for the love and affection of the fans. TV scores in this area due its huge reach. TV fans are also very loyal. Despite the fact that Kalash ended a while back, they continue to stay in touch. And last but not the least, unlike youth-specific web, TV attracts all segments of audiences, be it aunties or the young crowd.”
We agree, Aparna.
