TV helps an actor to become a household name: Namit Khanna

Drop dead gorgeous model turned actor Namit Khanna rose to fame post his stint in the sensual thriller Twisted on Viu. The young lad will be seen as Siddhant Sinha in Sony TV’s upcoming show Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai. The show stands different from other shows on TV as it is being shot in real locations and not on the sets.

Sharing about the show, he shares, “Yeh Pyaar… is a unique show. It is shot in real locations of Delhi. The feel of the series is fresh. The characters are contemporary. It’s my debut show on TV,  so I have butterflies in my stomach. We have worked hard on the project so hope audience love it. I am a fan of Producer Dilip sir’s writing. An actor’s work is done if he/she gets a good script. I am blessed to be working with such an amazing team.”

He further adds, “The story is very relatable. There will be some situations wherein youngsters will connect with it. I have gone through those issues and relate myself to it. I am sure people will connect with the story”.

Namit shares that he is not an avid TV watcher. “I am a wrong person to talk about TRP as I don’t watch TV, I don’t have cable at my place. I am not even aware about a lot of TV channels. But I am a movie buff.”

When asked Namit about his struggle period, he answers, “I have been in Mumbai for a decade now. I started with modeling. I never thought of acting as a career. Now, when I look back, I feel it’s been a long journey. I got my break with web-series Twisted. But after the series, I wanted to do something different. In India, people lack imagination. They stereotype you after witnessing you in a particular character. I was working on a pilot shoot for Star Plus when I got a call from Bindu Moving Images. I went for the audition and fell in love with the story. I immediately agreed to do it.”

Namit, who has been part of digital and TV platform, feels that TV is huge in scale compared to digital, “TV has huge scale and longevity. It definitely has a huge reach and connect with the audience. The character is remembered more than the actor. I feel it is a huge opportunity for an actor. As for web-series, it is short lived. You shoot it and move on. TV helps you to become a household name. I feel TV is a better platform.”

Way to go boy!
