I used to stammer; people said acting was not meant for me: Sehrish Ali

Sehrish Ali, who rose to fame with Star Plus’ Diya Aur Baati, is currently entertaining audience as Lakshmi in Zee TV’s latest offering Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega.

Talking about her role and new show, she shares, “I was really attracted to the concept. Three daughters-in-law finding a mother-in-law for their father-in-law is something very unique and rare. When I heard about the show, I was fascinated. When the team told me about the character I was going to play, I was very excited as since childhood I was fond of make-up and used to get all decked up for every small and big event. Lakshmi is also someone who is always prim and proper. She loves getting decked up. Audience will find her to be the evil one too but she is not evil or negative, she would just want that people should listen to her. She would want to rule in the house.”

When we ask Sehrish, if she feels the concept is relatable, she answers, “I am aware it might sound weird and audience will take time to digest such a concept but at the same it is practical. There are possibilities of such kind of concepts in real life. I think that is the reason the makers thought to come up with such a show. I am happy that audiences have loved and welcomed us. Today, we have got the TRP and it is 2.4. The entire team is happy and glad with the numbers.”

Have you faced any situation wherein people told ‘you can’t do it’? Sehrish adds, “I used to stammer when I was a teenager. I was told by a lot of people that acting wasn’t meant for me as I was unable to speak the dialogues continuously. I might face a lot of troubles. My mom was the one who always supported and pushed me towards this field. I took the challenge and proved it.”

Way to go, girl!
