Sadiya Siddiqui talks about her new show Barrister Babu

Colors’ popular show Barrister Babu has regaled the audience with it its unique storyline and introduced a host of interesting characters to viewers. With every episode, a new and exciting chapter unfolds in Bondita and Anirudh’s lives.

Now, their relation will be tested again as Bondita’s Thakuma, played by talented actress Sadiya Siddiqui, will enter and assert her authority. The thespian, who has entertained in shows Balika Vadhu and Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji, is glad to be a part of the path-breaking show Barrister Babu.

Talking about her character and more, Sadiya says, “It has been hectic for me. I had stopped doing TV and now I have returned after a long gap. I was feeling tiring in the beginning but now I am getting used to it. I have done two shows with Shashi Sumeet Productions, we share a good working relationship. They called and offered me this role and I found it strong, hence I agreed to do it. I thought twice before taking up as I wanted to avoid risk due to COVID 19 as I have my mother at home. However, she also encouraged me hence I am aboard.”

Sadiya believes audiences will hate her character Thakuma, she mentions, “The viewers will hate her and in reality I also hate her. She is a very regressive person. She does not believe in women empowerment. She feels women should not dream, dress up, or even study. I would want to say that whatever Thakuma is doing to Bondita, never ever do it in your real life to anyone.”

Commenting on her experience working with co star Aurra Bhatnagar, she shares, “Aurra is damn cute and adorable. This is the second time I am working with a 10-year-old child. Earlier I had worked with Avika Gor in Balika Vadhu. I believe I get along well with kids and I like working with them. I feel kids are very smart and sharp. Aurra has a tremendous amount of energy and I try to match up to her.”

Sharing a funny incident with Aurra, she adds, “Initially we did not bond because she was slightly scared of me. I remember the market was shut here and I wanted a shampoo so I ordered it from Amazon. She took that parcel when it arrived and excitedly opened it without seeing the name. She did it because she was also expecting a parcel from her home. However, when she saw the shampoo, she also saw the name on the parcel and got scared. She informed one person from the set about the same and told the person to hide the incident from me because she was worried. I met her and calmed her down and now she is talking to me and bonding well.”

Good luck Sadiya!
