Antara Banerjee of Kasautii Zindagii Kay reboot (Suman from Prerna’s family) is looking forward to her digital debut with Alt Balaji’s Ragini MMS Returns 2. “While I can’t reveal stuff about my character, suffice to say it is a juicy role.”

How bold is it? “Given the franchise, s*x naturally comes along with the spooks. My character too is quite bold, but yes, it is shot aesthetically. I have no issues with skin show, as long as the character demands it.”

“Apart from horror and sex, there is a lot of drama as well. I had a blast shooting with the main leads Varun Sood and Divya Agarwal, who I have become good friends with.”

“Ragini is my best outing so far. You will have never seen me like this before,” says Antara, who has earlier done Gumraah and Badho Bahu on &TV.

“Ekta Ma’m is very particular about what and how she wants. No wonder we are reshooting 20-30% of Ragini even now as we speak” (we had written about it).

Shifting gears to KZK (Kasautii short form), she says, “I quit this show a while back, for I was not happy with the way my negative character was framing up. The show has a huge number of important characters, so it does get creatively tough to do justice to all. Also, a lot of experimentation was going on to meet TRP requirements.”

“However, my parting with Balaji Telefilms was very cordial. No wonder I got Ragini MMS Returns 2. When I first expressed my misgivings, they were more than willing to ease me out. But they requested me to stay on for a bit, which I willingly did. Later, they came back to me, offering me Ragini, saying they wanted a performer,” added Antara.

Point out that the ratings of KZK have come down and she says, “It would be wrong to compare both seasons, for back then, there was no web, which is now gnawing away at TV audiences.”

“KZK makers have pulled out all stops in shooting grandly with a big cast. Yet, I guess every show comes with its own destiny. There seems to be some problem with viewership. The buzz is also less.”

Among the KZK cast, Antara is quite close to Parth Samthaan. “We hang out after work as well. Erica Fernandes is a swell gal, but yes, we share a more professional rapport.”
