Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey has had an inspiring run on TV in the last few years. How does it feel to play the central role in this popular show?
It feels incredible! Wagle Ki Duniya is not just a show anymore, it has become a part of people’s lives. Playing Rajesh Wagle, a character so deeply rooted in middle-class values and everyday struggles, is both an honour and a responsibility. The love and appreciation from viewers over the years have been overwhelming, and it’s truly fulfilling to be part of a show that resonates with so many families.
The show has dealt with many societal issues and created awareness for parents raising today’s generation. Which have been your favourite tracks so far?
There have been several impactful tracks, and honestly, many of them are my favourites. The show isn’t just about addressing societal issues or creating awareness, it also beautifully captures everyday life experiences as well. The evolving dynamics between parents and children have been a recurring theme, and I have particularly enjoyed how the show portrays these changing relationships. Beyond the larger social messages, we have also highlighted seemingly small but meaningful issues from daily life. Some of the earlier episodes, for example, focused on how we often take our wives and mothers for granted, or even something as simple as deciding what to eat. These lighthearted yet relatable stories are what make Wagle Ki Duniya truly special.
The show is headed for a fresh twist with Rajesh Wagle gaining a superpower to know the future. What is your take on this concept?
It’s a very interesting turn in Rajesh’s journey. While it sounds like a huge shift, the essence of the show remains the same, relatable and grounded. Rajesh is still the same family man, but now he is dealing with the moral and ethical dilemmas that come with knowing the future. It’s not about becoming a superhero; it’s about how an ordinary man handles an extraordinary situation while staying true to his values.
Sony SAB has made TV viewing extremely refreshing for family audiences. Your take on it?
Sony SAB has truly redefined television for families. The channel consistently brings lighthearted, feel-good shows with strong messaging, something that is much needed today. It’s not just about entertainment, it’s about storytelling that leaves an impact. Wagle Ki Duniya, for example, is a perfect blend of nostalgia, emotions, and real-life challenges, making it a show that everyone in the family can watch together.
If Sumeet Raghavan could know his future, what would you want to know?
I believe life is more exciting when we don’t know what’s coming next, it’s the unpredictability that keeps it interesting. But if I had to choose, I would want to use that knowledge for the greater good. If I had the power to see the future, I would like to use it to improve my city, my state, and my country. Whether it is preventing disasters or making positive changes, I would want to ensure that the future is a better place for everyone.
Rajesh is still the same middle-class, responsible family man, but now he’s carrying the weight of this unusual power. The challenge as an actor is to bring out the inner conflict, how he grapples with his knowledge of the future without losing his essence.
Writers and the creative team of Wagle Ki Duniya have always excelled in showing relatable plots. Tell us about the importance of having a strong script and story.
Nothing is more important than a strong script and a well-written story. No amount of great acting can save a weak script. That’s why I always say the writers are the real heroes. As actors of course, we add our own experience and nuances to our performances, but if the foundation isn’t strong, even the best actor will fall short. A show like Wagle Ki Duniya is a result of great teamwork. Every single person, from the producer and director to the writers, cameramen, technicians, and even the spot boys, plays a crucial role. When everyone does their job to the best of their abilities, that’s when magic happens on screen.
What can viewers look forward to in this superpower concept that is about to start?
Viewers can expect fresh, interesting stories that still keep the essence of Wagle Ki Duniya intact. Rajesh’s journey with this newfound ability will bring in light-hearted moments as well as tension and deep emotions. The show will explore how he deals with the responsibility of knowing the future and whether it becomes a blessing or a burden. At the end of the day, the show will continue to focus on family values, relationships, and the dilemmas of an everyday man.
How differently do you need to portray Rajesh for this particular plot?
Rajesh is still the same middle-class, responsible family man, but now he’s carrying the weight of this unusual power. The challenge as an actor is to bring out the inner conflict, how he grapples with his knowledge of the future without losing his essence. It’s important to show his vulnerability, his struggle to do the right thing, and the emotional toll it takes on him. The change is subtle but significant, and I am enjoying exploring this new dimension of his character.
What is your message to audiences for this new track in the show?
I would say, keep watching and enjoying the journey with us! This new track is unique and new, but at its heart, it’s still the same Wagle Ki Duniya you love. It’s about family, responsibility, and the choices we make in life. We hope it keeps you entertained while making you think about the bigger picture. So stay tuned, and thank you for all your love and support.
