Talented actress Sunayana Fozdar, who was part of TV shows like Ek Rishta Saajhedaari Ka, Belan Wali Bahu, will be seen playing the role of Taarak Mehta’s (Sailesh Lodha) wife Anjali in Sony Sab show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, produced by Neela Film Productions Private Limited.
In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Sunayana says, “I and my family have always watched the show. I am very excited to join the cast. It all happened overnight hence, it’s yet to sink in. Having said that, I want to focus on work and give my best.”
Is there any pressure on you? Sunayana quips, “Obviously, there is. I would be lying if I say that there is no pressure. 12 years is a long time and people are watching the character every day on their screens. Having said that producer and director have been very chilled out and they have made me feel extra conformable. I want to thank Asit sir for this opportunity. Taarak aka Sailesh ji has also been very sweet. The pressure is in my head as I hope the audience accepts me. They have a special corner for Neha and she has been fabulous for 12 years as Anjali. It is not easy to stick around for so long. She was amazing and people love her so much, I hope to receive the same love.”
Sunayana says she won’t mimic Neha but will keep Anjali’s basic persona intact. “I would be keeping the basics of the character intact. I won’t change the thinking of the character. Having said that, I am not going to mimic Neha but get in my own flavour. I want to become Anjali for the audiences.”
The actress also has her previous show co-star in the show, so she is happy to be working with him again. “Raj who plays the role of Tappu was with me in TV show Ek Rishta Sajhedaari Ka. I was playing his Bhabhi in the show. I have not met him on set as of now as we have not had our shoot together. We had a good bond there. Otherwise, also, the cast of Taarak cast has also been very welcoming. They came and spoke to me and made me conformable.”
Talking about her favourite character in the show, she says, “Dayaben and Jethaa Lal has been favourite of a lot of people. Daya ben has been very cute and funny.”
On an end note, Sunayana says, “I want fans to support me. I would request them to be kind to me. Honestly, I don’t want to get into her (Neha) shoes but I want to get a new pair of shoes and I hope audiences accept that. I won’t be able to be exactly like Neha but I will do my best. My main motto is to entertain audiences and I will do that for sure. I just want them to give me a chance.”
