We always knew that there will be a drift in story telling of Imlie from the original: Mayuri Deshmukh

Mayuri Deshmukh who plays the role of Malini in Imlie, gets talking about the drift from the original and on her character turning negative.

Mayuri Deshmukh the talented actress has taken her role of Malini to another new level after the character turned negative in Star Plus’ Imlie. While Malini was regarded as the sweet and adorable wife of Aditya Kumar Tripathi earlier, she has now turned totally black, to the extent of plotting any game plan to get her husband back.

We ask Mayuri about this big shift in her shade and she is pleased to tell us, “Yes, my character of Malini will have a journey. I was kind of aware that it will turn grey in due course of time. I was excited when I was told of it, as in one show, I get to perform both the positive as well as the negative. Earlier, Malini was positive to a great height. It is fun for an actor when such opportunities come knocking on you.”

With the character turning negative, is she being troubled by fans via comments, we ask her. “I really do not pay attention to the messages and comments coming from fans. As public figures, that’s the training that we give ourselves, that whatever trolling happens, if it is baseless, there is no point in paying heed to it. So I kill it by negligence.”

Tell her that makers of Imlie are not following the original, Ishti Kutum and Mayuri explains, “The makers are not following the original, and that’s true to a point. When the show was adapted in Hindi, we knew the audience was different and the pace with which they need to watch a show is different. Our show is much fast-paced when compared to the original. So we knew that at some point of time, there will be a drift from the original. We were aware of the fact that the story would be continued in another direction. What probably they did in 500 episodes, we completed it in 200 episodes. So we always knew that the original story will stop a point, from where our writers were going to take it ahead.”

Best of luck!!
