The beautiful Shrenu Parikh, who is impressing one and all with her performance in Star Plus show, Ishqbaaaz, is not really interested in dating a TV actor.
“This has been my rule for a while, which continues till now.”
When asked to describe her ideal guy, Shrenu quipped, “If I really knew, would I still be single till now? On a more serious note, it would have to be someone who respects my individuality and gives due deference to my family, like I would do to his folks. Yes, and he needs to be well-educated as well.”
Have you not bumped into any such guy on the sets of Ishqbaaaz? “Sadly, wherever I go, all the male leads get booked. Here, Nakuul Mehta is already married and Kunal Jaisingh is next in line.”
Shifting full gear to Ishqbaaaz, Shrenu says, “It is really fun to play a redux character (a new girl with the same name). This has never happened on desi TV before, so congo to Gul (Khan) ma’am, for pulling it off. It is really fun to now play a modern, bindaas Gauri, than the village belle she was before.”
“The very fact that we have survived for two years is an indication of the power of Brand Ishqbaaaz. We have miles to go yet. I guess what works is the story and the hardwork of the entire team. Although essentially a romcom, we have all the other required attributes as well, which let us speak to all sections of audiences and not just the youth. Here, I would like to thank our strong fan base. Guys, it is only because of your support that we are where we are.”
Going on, she says, “There is great camaraderie off set as well. All actors have become like family. Among the girls, I am very close to Surbhi Chandna and Mansi Srivastava (not there for the moment).”
Shrenu first came on board as part of the Ishqbaaaz spin-off, Dil Boley Oberoi. But it wrapped up and she was absorbed in the main show. “The merger happened on audience demand who wanted to see all the Oberoi brothers together.” (She is playing Omkara’s wife).
She continues: “I really enjoyed my Dil Boley stint, hence agreed to the above shift as well.” Dil marked her TV return. “I had taken a small-screen sabbatical, during which I did a Hindi film, Thodi Thodi Si Manmaaniyan, which got released (big deal, with non-star faces), and a few TVCs as well.”
Her earlier shows include Havan, Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka, etc.
Her debut lead Gujarati film, Laambo Raasto, will also release soon. “Going ahead, I would prefer TV, but that does not mean I will say no to good films. I am open to web series as well.”
We wish her success.
