Gaurav Wadhwa, brother of Nirbhay Wadhwa is slowly but steadily rising on the graph.
After doing strong supporting characters in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Thapki Pyar Ki, he is now doing the lead role in the new SAB TV show Super Sisters (Optimystix Entertainment), which will go on air next week.
Says Gaurav, “I play a rich businessman and love interest of the elder sister, Shivani, played by Vaishali Takkar, who uses her superpowers to help others in distress.”
“Ashmit Oberoi has one major quirk-he can’t speak ornamental Hindi properly. For example, in place of rozgaar, he will end up mouthing Bukhaar. So he has kept an assistant, whose only job is to correct him,” says Gaurav, who began his TV journey with Dance India Dance 4, back in 2013.
“Although both the leads love each other, certain complications keep happening. You need to watch the show, to find out more,” he adds.
“Apart from never doing a lead, this is my first encounter with comedy and SAB TV. It is more fun to do the lighter elements, rather than heavy duty drama, 24*7,” the actor states.
“Having said that, I really enjoyed my stint in Yeh Rishta. I not only learnt a lot about the acting craft, but made a great bunch of friends too. I also did a small part in Ye Hai Mohabbatein.”
Gaurav is very proud of his elder brother, who is impressing one and lall with his tantric avatar, in Star Plus show, Qayamat Ki Raat. “It takes him 2 hours every day, just to get the makeup on. Also, the lenses are troublesome. Yet he continues to shine away on the small screen.”
“His success (Hanuman, as well) always encourages me to put my best foot forward. I try to emulate his work-only approach and hope that one day I too will also find my feet under the sun,” explains Gaurav.
“Nirbhay’s Qayamat co-star, Vivek Dahiya, who I also regard as an elder brother (co-star in Ye Hai Mohabbatein), also eggs me on”.
Best of luck, Gaurav!!
