Popular Star Plus show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein (YHM) lives a charmed life. Despite repeated highly-placed buzzes which suggest that this Ekta Kapoor production, starring Divyanka Tripathi and Karan Patel, is finally bidding adieu, it continues to run with good ratings to boot.
Like early this year, we had got fairly accurate news suggesting that Star will end a number of its shows, which will also include YHM. Although eventually Krishna Chali London and Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji did bite the dust, YHM continues to rule. Also, news of its supposed sequel have stopped as well.
But now, with main lead Karan Patel quitting the show to try his luck in Khatron Ke Khiladi, the rumour mills have again been agog about YHM’s future. It is now being speculated that Star did not end YHM earlier, for it was waiting for its other shows to pick up steam. Their plan got scuttled, for both Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke and Kahan Hum Kahan Tum did not race to the top, rather took the ladder.
Now all eyes are on Sanjivani, which takes off today. If it gets good ratings, then maybe the channel honchos will again consider taking a call on YHM.
We touched base with Divyanka, who had the following to say:
“YHM is truly running because of its audience, YHM unit’s love for it and because of nonstop quality entertainment that creatives have been able to churn out, irrespective of the natural twists in the real world, that life can offer, in the last six years.
From that perspective, YHM is blessed. It’s not threatened by any circumstances, because YHM has done well in spite of any time slot given to it (it changed thrice) and it has always surprised people on the TRP charts. Also, we have just completed our 1800 episodes. So we are in a jubilant mood because of the journey we have seen together.
Whenever the show will go off air (which will be someday, of course), it will still be a respected show because of a very successful run for years.”
