Avinash Mishra, who is playing the lead in Zee TV show, Yeh Teri Galiyan (YTG), would not mind going nude if required in web series. “Bold is a requisite of the new age format, and I don’t think it would be a dampener for me. In the final analysis, what matters is only the story. I am looking for something hard-hitting like Mirzapur (Amazon Prime).”
On TV, he would love to do a mytho next. “It would be fun to essay a horseback warrior swashbuckling his sword. I know many of my contemporaries don’t like this genre. But it surely figures high on my wish list,” says Avinash, who has been part of other shows like Ishqbaaaz and Mariam Khan – Reporting Live.
Shifting gears to YTG, which will soon complete 350 episodes, he says, “Now I am totally in sync with the character and can guess what Shantanu Mazumdar will do next. At first, I did find it tough to get him. Recently too, he turned negative due to the story demand.”
Avinash again has no qualms about becoming a father on screen, post leaps. “Today, with audiences maturing up, your real age is no longer that important. As mentioned above, everything boils down to how well you convince the audience of your bona fides. Did Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu not impress one and all with their old lady acts in Saand Ki Aankh?”
Point out to rumours suggesting that YTG will go off air. “Yes, some such news had come out, but it is totally false. We are doing well. The channel is happy, no wonder we have got so many award nominations.”
“Our 1 TVR is quite good for the 7 pm slot. We mostly finish #2 on the slot, which is no mean task. Also, some times, ratings alone don’t count. We are doing well on the equally important time spent value as well.”
In closing, he rules out his show having a possible season 2, like similar rating Manmohini has just done. “Our plot has a lot of juice left, you ain’t seen nothing yet.”
