Bigg Boss 18 Premiere Review: A Few Sparks & Salman Khan being his charming self

The overall impact of the premiere night didn't live up to the usual expectations but it did its job of having you excited and anticipating with the interesting mix of contestants, as the precap already witnessed a minor clash between Tajinder Singh Bagga and Rajat Dalal.

Bigg Boss 18 Premiere Review: Not Much Spunk Except A Few Sparks 920869

And we are rocking and rolling with the latest season of India’s biggest reality show, Bigg Boss 18 – once again with host Salman Khan. From being a gradual occurrence that took some warming up to, Bigg Boss has now become an annual regularity that continues to try and reinvent, and more often than not – does the job well.

Right away, talking about the premiere episode, it somehow never gets old to see Salman Khan keep returning for a new season despite struggling to find novelty. Interestingly, before the premiere night went into proceedings with the introduction of contestants, the whole bit of incorporation of AI was rather innovative and impactful as well. Khan showing his usual self and having conversations with Bigg Boss while AI showing a younger Salman Khan talking to present day Salman Khan was rather fun to watch before we went to the stage and the ordeal began.

Another thing that directly made an impact was the house design – it is perhaps one of the best designs in recent seasons of the show, where everything looks aesthetic, rustic and yet royal and ostentatious in a certain manner.

Just like everytime, Bigg Boss 18 is all about its contestants but what’s interesting is that despite having 18 contestants, none of them was especially eccentric or stood out in a way that sparks a fire from the get go. The closest to someone doing that happened in the form of Shruthika Raaj, who had humor and spunk to play with.

Apart from that, there were momentary bits of sparks with the currently budding bromance between Avinash Mishra and Shehzada Dhami, as they already began their bitching sessions – but apart from that, not a specific moment that stood out from others.

A rather boring and insignificant addition to the episode was the inclusion of Dr. Aniruddhacharya ji, who was probably brought in to evoke some questions that are out of the comfort zone but that didn’t happen at all.

The overall impact of the premiere night didn’t live up to the usual expectations but it did its job of having you excited and anticipating with the interesting mix of contestants, as the precap already witnessed a minor clash between Tajinder Singh Bagga and Rajat Dalal.

With these many contestants, there’s always hope that it will keep getting crazier and this entertaining for the viewers.
