Bollywood actors do not limit themselves to just acting but try their hand at a lot of things. From hosting shows to judging them, and sometimes even participating, they do it all. The shows tend to include our B-town celebs in their judges’ panel, so as to increase their credibility and their popularity also results in higher numbers.
While the trend was started by the likes of Karan Johar and Malaika Arora Khan, recently, Kareena Kapoor Khan also made her TV debut on the reality dance show, Dance India Dance on Zee TV. This year, the excitement hit the roof, as the gorgeous Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan joined the panel of judges along with ace choreographer Bosco and the most loved rapper of the country, Raftaar.
As per reports in media, Kareena had a variety of reasons to join the show, including flexible work hours. One of the reasons could be a hefty pay cheque. Bebo is charging a whopping amount for her TV debut. She is apparently getting Rs 3 crore per episode for the show, that makes her one of the top paid celebrities on Indian TV.
While Kareena had not disclosed the exact amount of her pay cheque for DID, she had mentioned that she’s getting paid what she deserves, as TV requires more dedication from an artist, and we all have seen how dedicated Bebo is for her work commitments as she flies down to the country from London every week, to shoot for her weekly appearance on DID.
Kareena Kapoor Khan has been having quite a difficult time juggling between her show and movie. While she was shooting for Angrezi Medium with Irrfan in the US, she also had Dance India Dance in India. Hence, one particular week, when she was unavailable to judge the reality show, her sister Karisma Kapoor filled in for her. Later, for yet another episode, best friend Malaika Arora took charge as a special judge.
Although there is so much happening with Kareena being the judge of the show, the seventh edition of the most successful dance reality TV show Dance India Dance failed to connect with viewers. It could not manage to hold interest even with its staged banter. Dance India Dance (#DanceKaJungistaan) opened at 1.0 TRP and later continued to be 0.7 almost every week, according to measurement data. It seems Kareena’s magic has failed on the screen and not worked wonders for the show.
Well, we think getting Kareena on board was a big decision made by the channel. However, the decision has not worked in its favor.
We just hope the numbers go up and viewers connect with the show!
