Udaariyaan the newest Colors show has a concept that dwells from the very thought that prevails in many Punjabi households. A marriage alliance winning the whole family the lottery of migrating to Canada!! How cool is that!! The Sandhus have lived their life waiting for this big lottery and lady luck to strike them and strike them hard!! While the men of the house could not guarantee them the plane ticket and visa to Canada, the ladies have now rested their hopes on their daughters Tejo and Jasmine to fulfill this desire of theirs and get them settled in Canada.

The first few episodes are gone on establishing the crazy madness of the Sandhu household wherein they eat and breathe to fulfill their only dream of getting settled in Canada. Few of the sequences look silly, but it also depicts the certain thought process that prevails in few Punjabi homes for real.

Tejo (Priyanka Choudhary), who is well-educated can very easily get them all the luxuries of Canada with her work profile or by marrying an equally learned NRI guy from Canada. However, Tejo’s thoughts are deep-rooted, and talk of nothing but being in the soil of Punjab. On the other hand, we have Jasmine (Isha Malviya) who is not educated, but starts her day as a routine, standing on her terrace, listening to the plane sound that takes off to Canada.

Contrast in their thoughts, but linked for life together, are these two sisters, through the one man Fateh (Ankit Gupta). Fateh is madly in love with Jasmine. But he too, like Tejo is a staunch believer in dreaming big and living it in Punjab.

There’s also the other man Jazz who wants to marry Tejo, for the good income that she will bring into his family, by being well-placed professionally. There is also a confusion of Tejo and Fateh clashing, and Fateh ending up confessing his love to Tejo instead of Jasmine. Yes, there is a serious, or can we say not-that-well-executed confusion in this love story.

What we cannot much fathom is that even while his love is only one-sided, to the extent of not knowing the girl so very well, Fateh goes to the extent of doing certain things that he should not be doing. Also, considering that he comes from a family that is so very deep-rooted to the Punjabi culture and traditions!! Well, true love is blind!!

The complexities in the tale take to a higher level when Fateh’s friend beats up the guy Jazz who has come to speak of his alliance with Tejo. However, Fateh all the while believes that the alliance has come for Jasmine.

Also, the madness that prevails in the Sandhu house about life in Canada cannot be digested after one phase. Every episode shows their struggle and this is troublesome after a point.

Talking of actors, Isha, Priyanka and Ankit are doing a really good job. They look their characters and are doing full justice.

This show marks the add-on in actors Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta’s profiles as Producers. Must say, they have thought of a decent script for their debut on TV. However, the more we dwell on the concept, it looks to be one that can be better suited for being a film concept rather than a tale with twists and turns on the TV. Only time will tell whether the masses grant a thumbs up to the show or not!!

We at IWMBuzz.com credit the show with 2.5 stars out of 5 stars.
